Panic attacks during pregnancy can be a horrifying thought! Dealing with this, in addition to the regular symptoms and issues can be a huge burden. Not only this, but pregnancy itself can produce high amounts of stress due to the care and responsibility necessary. What are some safe tips to deal with this?

The first tip to consider for both the safety of you and your unborn child is the cause of the attack.

Perhaps you have experienced what you believe to be the first attack, or you are unsure whether or not the symptoms being experienced is due to a panic attack. Consider visiting a doctor and have them give you a checkup. This is crucial as symptoms can often be mistaken. Just not knowing if it may be another health issue and a threat to you and your baby can produce enormous amounts of anxiety, and this leads to many more panic attacks.

The second tip to consider is when you feel the symptoms approaching, find a safe place to sit.

Once seated, you can try to relax and control your breathing to help prevent other nasty symptoms from surfacing and making things worse. Take controlled deep breaths. Another suggestion related to this, try practicing sitting still for fifteen minute periods of time without moving at all. The better you get at this, the easier it will be to relax at will, which can help out quite a bit when the need for it arises!

The third tip is to take care of yourself!

Eating properly to retain the necessary nutrition for you and your child, and can reduce anxiety as well. Get adequate amounts of rest as well. Granted there are times when sleeping is difficult, but the second tip about relaxation can also help ease the transition into sleeping. Keep a positive attitude, and do things that bring you joy and laughter. Consider watching some funny shows, or enjoy the company of some friends and family throughout the day.
